The program can be
anything – a lay-led service, a canoe trip, an
evening of music or dance, a games night – and
can be as simple or elaborate as the group
desires. We hope that, in the course of two
years, each and every member family will be
involved in one of these seed groups. By working
together and living our goals and dreams,
we will achieve a re-dedication of our temple,
and a re-covenanting for our congregation.
So far, wonderful volunteers have stepped forward
to lead eight seed groups. This is a fabulous
start, but we still need more volunteers. I
should mention that in a couple of cases, two
people have joined together to co-lead a seed
group. If the idea of leading a seed group yourself
is too daunting, please consider joining with
a friend to do it!
We are planning the first seed group presentation
for June. Our experience has been that
turnout for synagogue events is very low over
the summer, as so many of our members travel
during that time. We won’t, therefore, plan
events for July and August. We’ll pick up again
in September. The High Holy Days fall in
October this year, so we won’t plan a program
for that month, but we will have seed group programs
in November and December. As we celebrate
Chanukah this year, rejoicing in the historic
re-dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem,
we will also have a special celebration for our
ongoing re-dedication of our own temple. And
then we’ll continue into 2006!
If you are considering volunteering to be
a seed person, or if you would like to join one
of the seed groups currently forming, please
give me a call! The ideas that I’ve been hearing
are absolutely fantastic – watch this newsletter for details as we firm up dates and plans –
and I’m looking forward to wonderful, amazing
programs.
