October 2004
I am writing to you in the brief interval between Rosh Hashanah
and Yom Kippur, still savoring the beautiful, rich Rosh Hashanah
services. Jim and Andi were radiant on the bimah, and I was deeply
moved to see all of us worshipping together: Jews from babes in
arms to nonagenarians, longstanding members and brand new members,
guests, out-of- town visitors, and students from Marlboro, SIT,
Landmark, and the Putney School. I’m looking forward to our
Yom Kippur services later this week.
I would like to thank Jim and Andi for their wonderful spirit
and the choir whose beautiful voices lifted us all. In addition,
our services could not happen without a huge amount of time and
energy from a dedicated group of volunteers. I would like to thank
the many people who handled set up and clean up, our warm and welcoming
greeters, our talented Torah and Haftorah readers, and our speakers.
Laura did an amazing job of coordinating the English
readings, and Esther and Jackie led a delightful
children’s service. Mary provided a magnificent arrangement
of flowers for the bimah.
