The J2GMTs: Joyous Jewish Green Mountain Teens
BAJC’s teen group, now named Joyous Jewish Green Mountain Teens or the “J2GMTs” is about to begin its second year. During our inaugural year, the group watched and critiqued the Jewish film Revolt of Job, read and critiqued a Anita Diamont’s The Red Tent, and composed and presented a dramatic reading based on My Guardian Angel by Marlboro author Sylvie Weil. The group also had discussions of a broad array of topics ranging from Jewish-Christian relations to drug prevention, and we did some Torah study.
During Year Two, the group is planning some travel, possibly to Toronto to spend a weekend with a Jewish teen group in that city, and possibly to Brooklyn, New York, Washington and/or the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst. Additionally we will be tackling some tough issues like separation and divorce. There will be more books and films, perhaps more drama, and lots of fun.
