A Couple of Questions from Jim

I continue to hear wonderfully affirming comments about our recent "Jews by Choice Commitment Ceremony" and the moving words spoken by Elizabeth Wohl (copied in the forthcoming newsletter) and by others. We'll need to have such ceremonies regularly. In time, no doubt, this will become part of URJ services more generally – led once again by Jews from Vermont!

Choice

I'd like to follow-up on this theme by inviting all of you who so choose (both Jews by birth and those who were not) to send me a paragraph telling of the point at which you made your "choice" and perhaps the circumstance that triggered it. I'll then put these together, without attribution of course, for our Kol Nidre service.

Room

Relatedly, we have sometimes spoken of a Jewish congregation as a house containing four rooms: worship, education, social justice and community. Some of us dwell primarily in one room, some in several. (And time spent in one room often leads us to others.) Could you let me know in a sentence with which of these rooms you consider yourself primarily connected at present within BAJC. Will be interesting for us to get a profile of our congregation in this regard.
