Sermons
For Rosh Hashanah, we will honoring the request many of you have made that we be able to hear something about Dora Levinson’s biblical essay that placed second of 4000 in the Reaching Common Ground competition last year – and which made her a Fellow of the Institute for Christian and Jewish Studies in Baltimore. Dora will be speaking about that essay and also about Jonah, an important High Holiday reading.
Dora's sermon: Getting Past Wounded Pride
John Ungerleider will offer the Yom Kippur sermon, this being an extraordinary time in John’s life and in his spiritual journey with both his own Bar Mitzvah and that of son Jacob upcoming.
Jim's evening sermon on Rosh Hashanah will be on the topic of “Practicing Jews,” by the end of which many of us may be surprised to find ourselves so defined! At our Kol Nidre service, Jim tackled the subject of Messiach – and what we can be doing while we’re awaiting his (or her) arrival.
Child Care and Children's Services

Erev Rosh Hashanah Oneg
If you are coming to the erev Rosh Hashanah service at 7 pm on Monday
the 3rd, please bring a finger-food dessert to share at the oneg.
Break-the-Fast
If you are planning to break the Yom Kippur fast with the community on
Thursday the 13th, please bring an appropriate (and generous!) main dish
or salad to share—vegetarian or dairy casseroles, bagels and lox or
spreads, tuna or egg salad, etc..
Food Collection
As is our tradition, we will be making available empty bags for contributions of non-perishables to the Brattleboro Drop-in Center. Our High Holiday offerings have been an important source of food for the Center and for needy folks in our area.
