Screening of The Calling, followed by discussion with Rabbi Tom Heyn

Thursday, January 20 · 7:30pm
Brattleboro Museum & Art Center

The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center presents a free screening of the documentary The Calling, followed by a discussion with Rabbi Tom Heyn of the Brattleboro Area Jewish Community, on Thursday, January 20 at 7:30 p.m.

A groundbreaking documentary that follows the stories of seven young Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, and Muslim Americans who are training for religious leadership, The Calling takes viewers into the unknown world of seminaries to reveal the real people "behind the robes."  Produced by a multi-denominational team of filmmakers led by Series Director/Executive Producer Danny Alpert, The Calling (60 mins.) follows seven dedicated young people on a dramatic journey as they prepare to become professional clergy.

The Calling

Embarking on life paths that demand tremendous personal sacrifice and commitment, these seminarians must uphold timeless truths in an era that values quick fixes and hot trends, and face a public that challenges the very relevance of their mission. A new look at an old job, The Calling presents a fascinating look at how faith is lived today.

Following the free screening, Rabbi Tom Heyn of the Brattleboro Area Jewish Community will lead a discussion with audience members about the issues raised in the film.

This event is presented by the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center, in collaboration with BCTV and Vermont Public Television.
