| School Director Position Open
The job description includes (but is not limited to) supervising and assisting the school staff; implementing and evaluating curriculum; managing financial aspects of the school, including preparation of the annual budget and ordering supplies and textbooks; communicating and working in cooperation with the rabbi, parents, and the Education Committee; developing and implementing a system of student evaluation, including regular testing and reports to parents; coordinating holiday programs and the brief opening and/or closing gathering of the entire school together); conducting staff meetings; coordinating and attending Shabbat and holiday services and events when they involve the Hebrew school children.
Currently, school meets on 31 Monday afternoons, 3:45-5:45. In addition to the school hours, there will be one or two staff meetings during the summer and four or five during the school year, along with occasional meetings with the Education Committee and the Board of Trustees and an orientation meeting with parents. The Director might, on occasion, be called upon to substitute for an absent teacher, but would not have a class of his or her own. It is likely that the teaching staff will number five; the student body between 40 and 50. The number of hours per week would average about six. Although some ability to read basic Hebrew would be an asset, it is not a requirement.
