the first adult group bat-mitzvah
we have ever had! 9:30 am at WVMH.)
We will celebrate Simchat Torah in our shul for the first time, beginning with Yizkor at 6:00 p.m., followed by a holiday celebration.We will have the supreme "shehechianu moment" as we welcome a NEW TORAH into our new home.
Thanks to the efforts of Bill, we have received the extraordinary gift of a Torah, given to us by a congregation that is closing its doors. We will celebrate this amazing gift at our Simchat Torah service on Saturday night, October 14th.
We will hear the story of how this torah came to us, and we will have the opportunity to bless it, to dance and sing with it, and to read from it as we finish the torah cycle with Vezot ha-Berakkah (Moses blessing the people before his death) and start all over again with B'reshit (the story of the Creation).
This is an occasion for dressing up outrageously, dancing wildly, and enjoying prayers sung to melodies by Cole Porter and Paul McCartney (thanks to Mara Novak). There also may be some special guests. You won’t want to miss it!
