Members of the congregations in Bennington, Greenfield, and Keene have been invited to join the Brattleboro Area Jewish Community for a brown-bag luncheon on Thursday, June 15th, with guest speaker Arik Asherman, the Director of Rabbis for Human Rights (RHR). RHR, described as “the rabbinic voice of conscience in Israel,” was founded in 1988 and includes some ninety ordained Reform, Orthodox, Conservative and Reconstructionist rabbis and rabbinic students, all Israeli citizens. Insisting that all citizens of Israel and Palestine be afforded the same fundamental human rights, RHR was recently awarded the prestigious Niwano peace prize.
The brown-bag luncheon is free (bring your own lunch!) and will run from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm at our shul. Johnny Lee Lenhart, who is chairing this event, needs a few people to help with some of the details (directing cars, welcoming guests, preparing lunch for the three people on the guest panel, setting up and cleaning up). Please contact us if you can offer assistance or if you want more information.
