Mark Levy Concert

   Events Archive

Sunday, August 21st, 2005 , 12:30 p.m., West Dover Town Hall

Please join us for this concert performance by Mark Levy, along with a silent auction, raffle drawing, and delectable desserts and snacks—a fun afternoon that will raise much-needed funds for both our operating expenses and the building fund.

Mark Levy is a singer, lecturer, and humorist who specializes in folk music in Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino, and English and in Klezmer and Jewish music history and theory. He is a cantorial soloist in California and also performs for union and labor activities as well as in temples, synagogues, and concert venues throughout the country. He has several albums of his own original satirical songs as well as four albums of Jewish music. Folk music icon Pete Seeger said this about Mark Levy: “Mark is inspiring. I don’t often hear someone with such a good voice and clear sense of direction.” You can learn more about Mark at his website: www.marklevymusic.com.

At this time we are asking for help from all of our members. We need gift certificates and services from restaurants, shops, and people, as well as new items, to offer for raffle prizes and for a silent auction. Please help get them for us from any of your friends or from shops in the area. Contact Norma and Debbie for information or to let us know what you can get (info@bajcvermont.org). We also need donations of “delectable desserts” from our many gifted and talented cooks and bakers. Contact Vikki to offer your specialty. The committee working on this project could use some people to help set-up and clean-up on August 21 st, a “sound person” who can set up a minimal sound system, including two microphones on stands, and people to provide flowers—either potted plants or smallish wildflower arrangements for the windows and a larger arrangement for the dessert table. Contact Faith (faith@bajcvermont.org) if you can help with any of these “jobs.”

We’d like to have car-pool drivers for people who need rides from the greater Brattleboro area to West Dover. Contact Susan to volunteer and let her know how many people you can transport.

Most important of all, we need people to attend this event and to support this fundraising effort.
Please make a reservation by mail as follows:

Please include: your name, phone, email address, number of people attending & amount enclosed to:
