To The Brattleboro Jewish Community – Shalom!
On Saturday Night March 6 and Sunday March 7 we will celebrate
the joyous festival of Purim.
Highlights of this holiday are:
1) Reading the book of Esther (from a handwritten scroll in ancient
tradition)
2) Giving food packages to each other (nuts, cakes, candies, “Hamantashen,”
etc.)
I am coming to Brattleboro from Brooklyn to host a Purim party
and Megilla reading on the day of Purim. The expenses are “on
me,” but I need you folks to supply the crowd, smiles, costumes,
painted funny faces, etc. When we meet in person we will also toast
LeChayim LeChayim-- to Life.
Prizes for kids in costume!
A universal lesson of Purim is the triumph of good over
evil.
