Spirited Simchat Torah Celebration
Those of you who missed the Simchat Torah celebration on October
18th missed a spirited and spiritual evening of prayer, fun, music,
and food. Among other things, we had a beautiful havdalah service
led by Andi , followed by a fun skit and some interesting musical
parodies of the traditional prayers, led by Jim Levinson in a very
"unorthodox" outfit. We had a funny but wonderful group
aliyah as the last portion of the torah was read, followed by unrolling
the entire torah from end to beginning, filling the entire space
around the main hall. When we rolled it back up to the beginning,
all enjoyed another group aliyah as the first portion of the torah
was read and the cycle begun again. There were seven amazing hakifot
(dancing all around the room with the torah), that left everyone
ready for “refueling” with the sweets that awaited.
If you missed it this year, save October 8th next year and plan
to join the fun and the feeling of this special holiday.
