Moving to our own Jewish home, January 2006
For thirty-plus years of our existence, BAJC rented
the space needed for programs and worship. For almost twenty
years, that space was been at the Unitarian All Soul's
Church Meeting House. While we enjoyed
their lovely
building
nestled
in pines, we
long
wanted
our
own space—no
need to put the bimah away after services; an eternal flame
that never need be put out; walls on which our Hebrew
School classes can proudly post their work, and the ability
to schedule activities without conflict.
We own beautiful land with a home, cottage, and barn on West Brattleboro's Greenleaf
Street. We were thrilled to move into this space in Winter 2006.
Since moving in, we have seen wonderful participation: at services, volunteering, and in our education programs. Our shul is too small for our large events. For now we will rent space for High Holiday services. Eventually we will build
our dream home for the growing Shir Heharim community.
Your help is needed!
We will only succeed if we all work together in maintaining our new home. There are
many donation opportunities:
help to pay off the mortgage, donate to operational expenses,
or make a pledge towards the future new building project. Better
yet, contribute unrestricted funds. We also need volunteers willing
to contribute sweat equity.
Current sweat equity
opportunities are: painting the outside of the house, fall cleanup, light carpentry, and library work.
Feel free to contact Joe with any questions or comments.
